إِنَّ , the particle of emphasis and Nasbin (Seq # 64)
Consider the following sentence.
اَلْمَاءُ بَارِدٌ
Its meaning is “The water is cold”. The grammatical analysis of the above statement is as below.
الْمَاءُ = المُبْتداء
بَارِدٌ = الخَبَرُ
Let us now emphasize it by إنَّ (حَرْفُ تَوْكيدٍ وَ نَصْبٍ). It is as explained below.
بَارِدٌ | الْمَاءَ | إنَّ |
خَبَرُ إِنَّ | اسْمُ إنَّ (مَنْصوب) | حَرْفُ تَوْكيدٍ وَ نَصْبٍ |
Now its meaning is “Indeed, the water is cold”.
The particle of emphasis and Nasbin (إِنَّ) brings the following changes in the sentence.
- The terminology of Mubtada will change to “Noun of Inna” which is اسْمُ إِنَّ
- The terminology of Khabar will change to “Predicate of Inna” which is خَبَرُ إِنَّ
- It will make the “Noun of Inna” (اسْمُ إِنَّ) as مَــنْــصُــوْبٌ.
Wherever we encounter إِنَّ , it is our duty to determine اسْمُ إِنَّ and it should be مَــنْــصُــوْبٌ.
Exercises
- State TRUE or FALSE: The particle of emphasis and Nasbin إِنَّ is present in the verse Quran (18:94) and اسْمُ إِنَّ is يأجُوجَ (مَــنْــصُــوْبٌ).
- State TRUE or FALSE: The particle of emphasis and Nasbin إِنَّ is not present in the verse Quran (18:30) and اسْمُ إِنَّ is الَّذِينَ (مَــنْــصُــوْبٌ).

إنَّ when joins with 14 pronouns (Seq # 65)
Consider the below statement and let us emphasize the below statement with إنَّ .
هُوَ مُحَمَّدٌ
In this case إنَّ will join هُوَ as below.
إنَّهُ مُحَمَّدٌ
إنَّهُ | = | هُوَ | + | إنَّ |
It’s translation is now “Indeed, he is mohammed”. Here the attached pronoun هُ in إنَّهُ is اسْمُ إِنَّ and it is مَــنْــصُــوْبٌ. Below table provides us the complete 14 combinations of إنَّ.
